Adjusting the Neck Relief
This page explains how to check the neck relief after the the truss rod has been adjusted. To adjust the truss rod see Adjusting the Truss Rod HERE

Tune your guitar to proper pitch and set in playing position. Capo the strings at the first fret then fret the 17th fret on the E string. While holding the the E string at the 17th fret measure the gap between the string and the 8th fret. The gap should be between .012 to .014 (12 - 14 thousands of an inch) The 7th and 9th fret about about the same. Checking with a feeler gauge should be accurate enough for this adjustment. If you wish the relief be greater than this adjust the truss rod clockwise, if you wish it to be less make the adjustment counter clockwise.

The measurements here are suggested and are by no means written in stone.  Some players prefer more or less neck relief. so their instrument should be adjusted as such. Use these measurements as a benchmark for your adjustment, then adjust from there. Keep in mind there are other factors that influence this adjustment. It should be noted this adjustment should only be done after the other factors have been checked.

Other factors that affect this adjustment are, the nut, bridge, string gauge, fret size and worn frets. Each of these should be inspected, adjusted or replaced before adjusting the truss rod and setting the neck relief.
